More and more candidates are using social media to find jobs. Actually, 86% of job seekers say they use social media for their job search and over 92% of organizations use social media to recruit successfully.

While posting your openings on job boards and websites is one way of reaching the active seekers, social media can reach both active and passive candidates. Social media is also a fantastic way to boost your employer brand. Almost half of job seekers find company culture to be the reason they leave a company and the reason they want to stay. Through social media, you can promote your culture in your posts and show potential applicants why they may want to work for you.

What is Social Media Ads?

Social Media Ads is Talentech's publishing service that allows you to create and publish your adverts to social media (Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram) and find better candidates by promoting your job through sponsored campaigns. All directly through your recruitment system. We help you to easily create these campaigns without the hassle of contacting a partner, make an agreement or having to use yet another product.

Why use Social Media Ads?

When you publish to Social Media Ads you are reaching relevant candidates who are not actively looking for a new job and therefore are not looking at job boards. Social Media Ads puts your job in front of people who may not be searching but know a good opportunity when they see it.

How do I set it up?

To get started with Social Media Ads, we only need a few details from you:

  • A link to your Facebook and/or Instagram account. This should be the page that you would like to be the sender of the campaigns. 
  • The name and email of the page owner.

Please note: If you don’t have any page or you prefer not to connect your own page to the campaign, it will be promoted through Talent Matcher and look like this:

Once the integration has been set up, simply choose Social Media Ads in your recruitment solution.

What images should I use?

There are some requirements for the images you use for Social Media Ads. 

  • The optimal crop is square and they must be at least 1080 x 1080 px in resolution.
  • Recommended image formats are JPG and PNG.
  • We recommend that you do not use images with 20% text or more.
  • Choose images in good quality and remember that the image is the first thing the candidate will see when they scroll.
  • Use images of your employees, preferrably "in action". This gives the candidate a personal impression of your organization.
  • Try to either include the product, or the people behind it.
  • Good, bright lighting usually performs better

Creating your campaign

The first thing to remember is that you only have a few seconds (7 seconds to be exact) to catch the reader's attention. This makes it important that you can convey the purpose of your advert - that you are looking for your next colleague - very concisely. Here are a few tips to get started!

  • What - Be clear about what the position is and which company is recruiting.
  • Why - Why should the candidate choose your position/you as their employer? 
  • Call to action - Encourage the candidate to apply!

Furthermore, we recommend that you keep the ad text under 130 characters. Remember that the candidate will quickly scroll past your ad!. You should also keen in mind what type of position you are filling and who you want to reach when you choose image and text. The candidates should feel seen!

FAQ

What is the cost and do we need to sign a new agreement?
No, you don't need to sign a new agreement. Talentech will set up your Social Media Ads integration completely free of charge and you only pay for the individual advertisements you post.
How does the targeting work?
Targeting is based on:
  • Location (targets candidates within a 80 km radius of the city or area you provide)
  • Job category (that you provide when you publish)
  • Interests and interest groups the candidate has shares on the Meta platform

The campaign will then target candidates with similiar parameters that you are looking for in candidates.

You will be providing both city and the skills you are looking for when creating the campaign. Both city/location and category can be fetched from your recruitment project information but you will be able to add or change it before you publish. 

This is a close collaboration with Jobtip, making use of their already established way of reaching candidates via Meta.

Can't I just share job ad myself on Facebook and add the marketing costs there?
When you publish yourself on Facebook, you need a Facebook Ads/company account. You will not be able to publish ads on the company's Facebook account and then add the marketing costs. You will have to build the ad in Business Manager and then set the right targeting for the ad, depending on which target groups and segments you wish to reach out to.

When creating a social media campaign in one of Talentech's recruitment systems, the targeting is set automatically based on the category and location you've chosen. The targeting is based on data from Jobtip from 100.000 campaigns created over the years. They ensure that you will reach the right target groups without having to set them up yourselves.

It is not only easier to create your social media campaign in your recruitment system compared to Ads/Business Manager. Through the collaboration with Talentech you also carry out the entire recruitment process in one system, which is much more effective.
Is it possible to turn off the comment section on Facebook and Instagram?
No, it's not possible to turn off the comment section.
Do I need to authorize/connect my Facebook page?
No, ads run through our "Talentmatcher" page if yours isn't connected.
What if we don't have a Facebook page?
If you don't have a Facebook connected to your ATS, it will be posted through Talentech's "Talentmatcher" page.
What happens if I unpublish a job?
The ad is auto-canceled and unpublished on Social media
What data is shared by using this service?
Only the ad's text & image are shared with Meta. No personal data is transferred.
What does reach mean on Facebook?
Reach is the number of unique users who saw your content.
What is the probable range of reach that an ad will have?
5.000–25.000
What is the most probable range of impressions that an ad will have?
30.000–70.000
What is the difference between your solution and an agency
The technology behind SMA has been in development for over a decade, the platform have 100% focus on promoting job ads. To put it simply, the platform is able to perform at a much higher efficiency than other solutions due to the fact that the inputs are better, through better and more datapoints.
What results can I expect?
The result of advertisement may vary depending on seasonalities and ad content, and a certain number of views or applications cannot be guaranteed.
On average our customers get between 30-70.000 views when using Social Media Ads but we cannot guarantee any specific number of views for the reasons stated above.
